Merchant guidelines

Pack it so it survives the loop.

A parcel on a minibus taxi travels upright, sometimes on gravel, and changes hands three times. These rules exist so food arrives intact and so custody stays provable if anything goes wrong.

Packaging standard v2.0 Pin this up in the kitchen
Rule 01

Container

  • Use the supplied Taxic branded paper bag or box. Do not substitute unbranded packaging — brand visibility along the route is part of the deal.
  • Liquids and stews go into a sealed container inside the bag, never loose. Lid taped, right way up.
  • Hot and cold items are bagged separately, even on the same order. Two bags is fine; one soggy bag is not.
  • Do not overfill. The bag must close flat enough for the seal to hold.
Rule 02

Seal

  • Close every parcel with a numbered Taxic tamper seal across the opening.
  • Record the seal number in the app before the driver scans. This is what protects you if the customer claims something is missing.
  • A broken seal at hand-over is treated as a custody incident and investigated from the log. An unsealed parcel has no protection at all.
Rule 03

Label

Every parcel carries a label on the outside showing:

Parcel IDPrinted by the app
Route codee.g. LIM-MUT-01
Destination stopNamed loop stop
Customer referenceFirst name only
HandlingHot / cold / fragile
Never write a customer's full name, phone number or home address on a parcel.
Rule 04

Timing

  • Pack to the departure clock shown on the order, not to a general "as soon as possible".
  • If you cannot make the next departure, hold for the following run rather than sending food that will sit at the rank.
  • Hand over only to a driver who scans the parcel in front of you. That scan is the moment liability moves to them.
Rule 05

Not allowed

Refused at the counter

Open drinks

Sealed bottles only. No cups, no open containers.

Glass without padding

Wrap glass, or use a plastic alternative.

Restricted goods

Nothing illegal, hazardous, live or licence-controlled.

Where the line sits. Damage caused by inadequate packing stays with the merchant. Damage in transit after the driver's scan is covered by the driver's liability, capped at R500 or wholesale cost. These rules are the line between the two — see the operator terms.
