One app. Six roles. One loop.

Taxic is a single Android app that changes shape depending on who signs in — customer, driver, merchant, fleet owner, reseller or admin. One install, one update path, one custody log underneath all of it.

Android 7+ Offline-tolerant Low data
Design constraint

Built for the phone people actually have. Not the newest Android, not an uncapped data bundle, and not a reliable signal — every screen has to survive all three being false at once.

Roles

One install, six jobs

Signed in, not reinstalled

Customers

Browse local shops, order to a loop stop, track the taxi in, hold a cash-topped-up wallet, and release the parcel with an OTP.

Drivers

Go on duty, accept jobs that sit on your loop, scan custody at both ends, and cash out your earnings daily.

Merchants

Run a prep queue tied to real taxi departures, mark items unavailable, and watch settlements land per order.

Fleet owners

See earnings across every vehicle you own, per driver and per route, without phoning anyone to ask.

Resellers

Buy credit in bulk, transfer it to customers for cash, and process driver cash-outs with dual-OTP confirmation.

Admins

Draw route polygons, set pricing rules per route or role, approve agents, and resolve custody disputes from the log.

Under the hood

Four decisions that shaped the build

  • 01 Geofenced routing, not addresses Every stop is a point inside a route polygon an admin has drawn. An order outside an active polygon is refused before payment rather than failing halfway. Polygon checkPre-payment
  • 02 A custody log, not a status field Seal scanned off the counter, position along the loop, OTP at the stop — each step is a timestamped record. Disputes are resolved from the log, not from argument. Seal scanOTP releaseTimestamped
  • 03 A wallet that accepts cash Card top-ups work, but the path that matters is handing notes to a local reseller who credits the wallet on the spot. Card-only would have been far simpler and would have excluded most of our users. Reseller networkDual-OTP cash-out
  • 04 Three languages, everywhere Tshivenda, Xitsonga and English throughout — including the OTP prompts and error messages, which is where most translated apps quietly fall back to English. TshivendaXitsongaEnglish
